Our method
How we pick the best
Every guide follows the same method, so a pick for running shoes means the same as a pick for espresso machines.
1. Decide what matters
For each category we list the four to six things that decide whether a product is good for most people, such as comfort and durability for running shoes or noise cancelling and battery for headphones. Each one gets a weight, shown on the guide.
2. Read the testing
We gather results from independent testers: lab measurements, long-term reviews and specialist retailers who play, run or cook with the products. Every guide lists its sources with links. A pick needs support from at least two independent sources.
3. Score and pick
Each product gets a score out of 10 on every criterion. The weighted total decides the best overall pick. We also name the best value pick, the best premium pick and picks for specific needs, and we say who should skip each one.
4. Re-check and update
New models, price changes and stock problems are checked regularly. Each guide shows the date it was last checked. If a pick is discontinued or a better one arrives, the guide changes.
What we never do
- Take payment from a brand to be picked or ranked.
- Invent tests, reviews or quotes.
- Recommend something we haven't researched. The assistant says so instead.
Today our scores come from comparing published expert testing. As WORLD MALL grows we'll add our own hands-on testing and owner surveys, and we'll mark which guides include them.
